Working together across Europe to create value from CO2

In Brussels yesterday, pioneering catalyst technology company Econic Technologies gathered alongside 60 leading industrial and research stakeholders to launch a new European association dedicated to CO2 utilisation, CO2 Value Europe.

CO2 Value Europe’s mission is to promote the development and market deployment of sustainable industrial solutions that convert CO2 into valuable products, in order to contribute to the net reduction of global emissions and to the diversification of the feedstock base. The association aims to influence policy makers and funders by becoming the leading ambassador for the CO2 utilisation community.

Being a founding member of CO2 Value Europe is an important move for Econic Technologies as it continues its work towards realising its potential to create value from waste CO2 across the globe. Actively involved in the creation of the new association, Econic Technologies believes that by coordinating the many different players involved in CO2 utilisation in Europe, and integrating their efforts, it will help to create a more sustainable Europe. CO2 Value Europe is the only association that gathers stakeholders from all the relevant sectors along the CO2 value chain, which includes CO2 emitters from the main process industries, providers of decarbonated energy, industrial gas experts, transformation technology providers, users of CO2-based products and research organisations.

The 60 founding partners of the association include large industrial corporations, innovative SMEs and start-ups, Research & Technology Organisations (RTOs), universities and clusters, ports and associations.

Rowena Sellens, CEO, Econic Technologies commented: “Tackling climate change is a global problem that requires a global solution. Having recently launched our pioneering catalyst technology, which converts CO2 into polyols, joining up with our European colleagues to further promote carbon capture utilisation felt like the natural next step for Econic Technologies.

“We have invested our time and effort into this new association because we strongly believe in the potential value and impact of CO2 utilisation but recognise that turning that into reality requires better integration of the efforts of all interested stakeholders across sectors.”
